Rebalancing

Portfolio Management & Risk

The periodic process of adjusting portfolio allocations back to target weights when price movements have caused them to drift. For example, if Bitcoin has 10x'd and now represents 70% of your portfolio instead of the target 40%, rebalancing means selling some BTC and buying other assets to restore the target allocation — mechanically selling high and buying low.

Reverse Gas Model

module-caffeine-deepdive

ICP's fee structure where developers pre-fund their applications with 'cycles' (compute units) so end users can interact with apps for free. The opposite of Ethereum where users pay gas fees for every transaction.

ReAct Pattern

module-ai-agents

The dominant single-agent architecture (Reason + Act) that alternates between Thought (visible chain-of-thought reasoning), Action (tool call), and Observation (processing the tool result). The cycle repeats until the task is complete. Introduced in a 2022 Google Research paper.

S

Snapshot (Governance)

DAOs & Governance

The most widely used DAO governance platform. Snapshot enables gasless off-chain voting where token holders sign messages with their wallets without paying transaction fees. It takes a snapshot of token balances at a specific block height to prevent vote manipulation. Results are off-chain and require a trusted executor or multisig to implement.

Sidechain

Layer 2 & Scaling

An independent blockchain that runs in parallel to another (like Ethereum) and connects via a bridge. Unlike rollups, sidechains have their own consensus and validator set — they do not inherit the parent chain's security. Example: Polygon PoS. Faster and cheaper than L1 but with weaker security guarantees than rollups.

Smart Contract Deployment

Building in Web3 (No-Code/Low-Code)

The process of publishing a smart contract to a blockchain, making it permanently available at a specific address. Once deployed, the contract runs autonomously — no company server required. Deployment requires paying a gas fee and, traditionally, writing code (though no-code tools like Thirdweb now simplify this).

SocialFi

SocialFi & Creator Economy

The convergence of social media and decentralized finance — platforms and protocols where social data (posts, follows, profiles) lives on-chain, creator monetization is enabled by smart contracts, and users own their social graph. Examples: Lens Protocol, Farcaster, Friend.tech.

Social Token

A cryptocurrency representing a creator's reputation, community membership, or access rights. Social tokens create speculative markets around individual creators — as popularized by Friend.tech's tradeable 'keys' system on a bonding curve.

Social Graph

SocialFi & Creator Economy

The network of connections (follows, friendships, interactions) a user has on a social platform. In Web3 social (Lens, Farcaster), the social graph is stored on-chain and owned by the user — making it portable across apps, unlike Web2 social graphs owned by platforms.

Portfolio Management & Risk

A 12–24 word backup phrase (BIP-39 mnemonic) that encodes a wallet's master private key and can restore all accounts derived from it. Must be stored securely offline — on paper or metal — in multiple separate locations. Never store digitally. Anyone with your seed phrase has full control of your funds.

SIM Swapping

Choosing & Using Crypto Exchanges

A social engineering attack where a criminal convinces a mobile carrier to transfer a victim's phone number to a SIM card they control. Once they control the number, they can intercept SMS-based 2FA codes and access exchange accounts. The primary reason security experts recommend authenticator app 2FA (Google Authenticator, Authy) over SMS 2FA for crypto accounts.

Swyftx

Choosing & Using Crypto Exchanges

One of Australia's most popular cryptocurrency exchanges. AUSTRAC-registered, supports PayID/OSKO for instant AUD deposits, provides AUD trading pairs for major cryptocurrencies, and offers a well-regarded mobile app. Slightly higher spreads than global exchanges like Binance but designed specifically for the Australian market with local compliance and banking integration.

System Prompt

module-prompting-skill

Instructions given to an S.I model before the user conversation begins that define the model's persona, rules, scope, and behavior. System prompts are set by developers or application builders to shape how the S.I responds — for example, making it behave as a domain-specific expert or restricting its topics.

S.I Agent

module-ai-agents

An S.I system that combines an LLM with four additional capabilities: perception (reading its environment), memory (retaining information across steps), tool use (calling external APIs and functions), and action (executing things that affect the world). Unlike a chatbot, an agent can work toward a goal autonomously over multiple steps.

Semantic Triple

module-dkg-ai-memory

The fundamental unit of a knowledge graph: a Subject-Predicate-Object statement that expresses a relationship between two entities (e.g., 'Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto'). Semantic triples form the building blocks of RDF (Resource Description Framework) and enable structured, machine-readable knowledge that supports multi-hop queries and relationship traversal.

Stable Variables

module-web3-ai-agent

A Motoko language feature that persists canister state across upgrades, ensuring S.I agent memory and data survive code updates. Declared with the 'stable' keyword, these variables are serialized and preserved when a canister is upgraded. Without stable variables, every code deployment resets canister state to empty — losing all conversation history, user data, and configuration.

Token Gating

Building in Web3 (No-Code/Low-Code)

Restricting access to content, communities, or features to users who can prove they hold a specific NFT or minimum token balance in their wallet. Used for exclusive newsletters, Discord communities, events, and premium content — creating a transferable, tradeable membership system.

Token-Gated Content

SocialFi & Creator Economy

Content, communities, or experiences that are accessible only to holders of a specific NFT or token. Enables creators to build subscription-like exclusive access — backed by on-chain ownership rather than a traditional platform account.

Transaction Malleability

Case Studies: Major Crypto Successes & Failures

A property of early Bitcoin transactions where the transaction ID could be changed (without altering the underlying transfer) before confirmation. Mt. Gox attackers exploited this bug to claim transactions had failed and request re-sends, effectively double-withdrawing funds. Bitcoin's SegWit upgrade (2017) permanently fixed this vulnerability.

Tax-Loss Harvesting

Portfolio Management & Risk

The strategy of deliberately selling assets at a loss to realise losses that can offset taxable gains, reducing your overall tax bill. Unlike stocks, crypto has no wash-sale rule in the US (as of 2024) — you can sell at a loss and immediately repurchase the same asset to maintain exposure while locking in the tax benefit.

Transformer

module-ai-llms

The neural network architecture underlying all major LLMs. Its key innovation — the attention mechanism — allows the model to consider the relationship between all words in a sequence simultaneously, enabling far better language understanding than previous architectures.

Token (S.I)

module-ai-llms

The basic unit an LLM processes — roughly 3-4 characters or ¾ of a word. Text is broken into tokens before being fed to the model. Token count determines API costs and how much text fits in the model's context window.

Text-to-Image

module-ai-tools

An S.I capability where a model generates an image from a text description (prompt). Tools like Midjourney, DALL·E 3, and Stable Diffusion use this technology to create photorealistic or artistic images from plain language.

Token (S.I)

module-prompting-skill

The basic unit of text that LLMs process — roughly equivalent to 0.75 words in English (so 1,000 tokens ≈ 750 words). LLMs are priced by token count, and context window limits are measured in tokens. A token can be a word, part of a word, or punctuation.

Temperature (S.I)

module-prompting-skill

A parameter controlling the randomness of an LLM's output. Low temperature (close to 0) makes outputs more deterministic and predictable; high temperature (close to 1 or above) makes outputs more creative and varied. For factual tasks, use low temperature; for creative tasks, use higher temperature.

Tool Use (S.I)

module-ai-agents

The ability of an S.I agent to call external functions — such as web search, code execution, database queries, API calls, or wallet operations — during its reasoning process. Tool use is what separates agents from pure text generators, allowing them to interact with the real world.

TRAC Token

module-dkg-ai-memory

TRAC creates an economic incentive layer that maintains the decentralized network's availability and integrity.

Trustless S.I

module-verifiable-ai

S.I systems whose outputs can be mathematically verified without trusting the operator, typically using ZK proofs or deterministic execution environments. Trustless S.I enables smart contracts and other on-chain systems to use S.I outputs safely, since correctness is proven by cryptography rather than relying on provider honesty.

Text-to-Image

module-multimodal-ai

An S.I capability that generates images from text descriptions. Models like DALL-E 3, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion use this technique.

Text-to-Video

module-multimodal-ai

Wash-Sale Rule

Portfolio Management & Risk

A US tax rule that prevents investors from claiming a capital loss if they repurchase the same or substantially identical security within 30 days before or after the sale. As of 2024, this rule applies to stocks but NOT to cryptocurrency, which is classified as property. This gives crypto investors a tax-loss harvesting advantage over stock investors.

Withdrawal Whitelisting

Choosing & Using Crypto Exchanges

A security feature on crypto exchanges that restricts withdrawals to only pre-approved wallet addresses. When enabled, withdrawing to a new address requires a whitelisting process (typically with a time delay of 24–48 hours and email confirmation) even if an attacker has your account credentials. A key security layer recommended for all exchange accounts.

WebAssembly (WASM)

module-icp-ai-infrastructure

A binary instruction format that runs at near-native speed in web browsers and server environments, used by ICP canisters for on-chain execution. ReAct Agent Template for Crypto Research

ReAct Pattern & Tool-Using Agents

ReAct (Reason+Act) loop template for an autonomous crypto-research agent.

You are a ReAct crypto-research agent. Loop:
Thought: what do I need to know next?
Action: call one of [search_web, fetch_price, read_contract, calc]
Observation: <tool output>
...repeat until the question is answered.

Question: [QUESTION]
Constraints:
- Max 6 reasoning steps.
- Cite every numeric claim to a tool observation.
- End with: Final Answer: <answer> + Confidence: <high/med/low>.
- If a tool fails twice, fall back to a stated assumption and flag it.

Tokenomics Analyst Prompt

S.I for Tokenomics Analysis

Structured prompt for analyzing a token's economic design and sustainability.

Analyze the tokenomics of [TOKEN]:
1. Supply: max supply, current circulating, emission schedule, vesting cliffs (next 12 mo).
2. Demand drivers: staking yield, governance rights, fee burn, ecosystem usage.
3. Distribution: top 10 holders %, team/advisor/VC allocation, treasury %.
4. Inflation/deflation: is net supply growing or shrinking? By what % annually?
5. 3 bull points and 3 bear points.
6. One-line verdict: SUSTAINABLE / INFLATIONARY / DEFlationary / UNCLEAR.

On-Chain Anomaly Detector Prompt

On-Chain Analytics with S.I

Prompt for an S.I agent to flag anomalous on-chain activity for a given address or contract.

Monitor address/contract [ADDRESS] on [CHAIN]. Flag anomalies:
1. Transaction volume spike: > 3σ vs 30-day rolling mean.
2. Unusual counterparties: new addresses receiving > $X in 24h.
3. Function-call pattern change: new methods invoked or call frequency shift.
4. Token-flow graph: any sudden concentration into a single CEX deposit.
5. Time-of-day pattern: activity outside the address's historical hours.
For each anomaly: severity (low/med/high), evidence, suggested action.
Output as a structured alert suitable for a notification pipeline.

S.I Smart Contract Review Template

S.I for Smart Contract Review

Template for using an LLM to do a first-pass review of a Solidity smart contract.

Review this Solidity contract for security issues. Output:
[CONTRACT CODE — paste here]

1. Reentrancy risks (cite line numbers).
2. Unchecked external calls / missing return value checks.
3. Access-control gaps (who can call what).
4. Integer overflow/underflow (pre-0.8.0 only — note Solidity version).
5. Centralization risks (owner privileges, upgradeability).
6. Gas-griefing or DoS vectors.
7. Top 3 issues ranked by severity, with a one-line fix each.
Note: this is a first-pass review — not a substitute for a professional audit.

S.I-Assisted Portfolio Rebalance Prompt

S.I-Managed Portfolio Strategies

Prompt for an S.I to suggest a portfolio rebalance given current allocations and risk tolerance.

Suggest a rebalance for this crypto portfolio:
Current: {BTC: [%], ETH: [%], Stablecoins: [%], Alts: [%]}
Risk tolerance: [conservative/balanced/aggressive]
Horizon: [months]
Constraints: max 25% in any single alt; keep >= 3 months expenses in stablecoins.

Output:
1. Target allocation table (asset, current %, target %, action).
2. Rationale per change (1 line).
3. Tax-loss-harvesting opportunities if any.
4. Explicit "do not rebalance" if drift is < 5% from target.

Cycles Funding & Cost Plan

Cycles, Costs & Deployment

Template for estimating ICP canister cycles cost and planning a funding cadence.

Estimate monthly cycles cost for a canister with:
- Avg wasm size: [KB]
- Avg updates/day: [N]
- Avg query calls/day: [N]
- Avg HTTP outcalls/day: [N]

Compute:
1. Storage cost (per GB-month) for the wasm + state growth.
2. Update-message cost (per 1B instructions).
3. Query cost (free, but note Xnet query cost if any).
4. HTTP outcall cost per call.
5. Total monthly cycles + ICP equivalent at current spot.
6. Recommended top-up cadence (weekly/monthly) and buffer %.
Output a copy-paste-ready funding plan.

dApp Debug Prompt Template

Debugging & Productionizing dApps

Structured prompt for diagnosing a failing dApp frontend ↔ canister interaction.

Diagnose this dApp issue:
Symptom: [describe — e.g. "call returns 0 results"]
Frontend: [framework, agent lib version]
Canister: [Motoko/Rust, candid method signature]
Error/log: [paste]

Step through:
1. Is the canister deployed and the canister id correct in dfx.json + frontend env?
2. Is the agent pointing at the right network (local/mainnet)?
3. Does the Candid interface match between generated bindings and canister?
4. Is the principal identity authenticated where the method requires it?
5. Is the call awaited (async) and the result unwrapped correctly?
6. Are there cycles on the canister?
Output: most likely cause (1 line) + a 3-step fix plan.

Motoko Canister Scaffold Prompt

Building Your First Canister

Prompt template for scaffolding a basic Motoko canister with stable storage and a public API.

Generate a Motoko canister with:
- A stable variable `entries : TrieMap<Text, Entry>` keyed by id.
- Type `Entry = { id : Text; title : Text; createdAt : Int }`.
- Public methods:
  - `add(id, title) : async ()` — insert with timestamp.
  - `get(id) : async ?Entry` — lookup.
  - `list() : async [Entry]` — return all entries.
  - `remove(id) : async ()` — delete by id.
- Use `import Map "mo:core/Map"` and `import Time "mo:core/Time"`.
- Include a `system preupgrade`/`postupgrade` pair if needed.
Return only the .mo file content, no commentary.
